I was practicing with queen but something weeeeird happened.I was going to use my super and then suddenly background turned white(her eyes were white too), queen's wings were getting bigger. She did 408500 damage.WHAT WAS THAT I T^T.

(+1)

Looks like you found her hidden super! Activate her Overdrive (down + mana button), get your opponent's life into the red and do the down super again. Instead of the Overdrive, Queen will perform an unblockable full-screen insta-kill. Have fun!

the game looks so good, great work, :D

Thank you very much! I'm working on a sequel right now, which will hopefully look even better.

OMGosh this story tho XD

Yeah, I didn't take this stuff too seriously xD

I'm wondering if it is just me, but does anyone have a problem of the game continuously inputting the right command?  Makes it a bit hard to play, but like I said, might just be me.

It does it with the controller as well as the keyboard.

Hi, this is a known issue, sorry about that. It seems to be triggered by the stick of XBOX 360 controllers. I suggest using other pads because of that.

It apparently does it with Xbox One controllers as well then.  Well, regardless, it is a pretty nice game.

Good to know, thanks for the feedback!

My 360 controller just makes it go Left continuously.

This game still has crazy combos. The more I find, the more they leave the realm of practicality. Satoshi has crazy extensions to what has already been found, nothing really new. Shirley and Marv however surprise me with their combo potential for example:

Shirley(Any, Tofuman): https://gfycat.com/spectacularserpentineamericanavocet

"2C - 5D - 5Y - airdash j.5B - 5C - 6A - jc j.(5C - 5D)"

Comment: This combo is nearly impossible to do in real time anywhere near consistently so I just did this in slow motion and sped it up for viewing pleasure

PSS: Make sure to middle click the link

Shirley(Any, Gigli): https://gfycat.com/coarsesameislandwhistler

"5A - 5B - 5C - 6A - jc j.(5C - 5Y[2]) - 5B - 5C - 5D[2] - 5B - 5C - 6A - 2C - 5D"

Comment: This one is also slowed down because I could not execute, but I sped it up for viewing pleasure it's great eye candy

Shirley has been slept on combo wise, she deserves this.

Wow, these are crazy, especially the second combo! Shirley is probably the most technical character in the game, I modelled her after Venom and Zato from Guilty Gear.  Awesome to see the character's potential being used!

Just found new tech that'll make "6A - 2C" easier you can cancel 6A with 2D and follow up alot easier if you have no ghosts out

will there ever be an competitive online mode? also loved the game uwu

Great to hear you like it! Unfortunately I don't have the resources or knowledge to create an online mode, at least right now. I'm not saying it's never gonna happen, but not likely :/

hello, i have a suggestion.

i noticed you implemented a "reserve partner" system where you can switch to a second character inside of the dungeon.

however, when i lose a fight with either characters, i get a Game Over which kinda undermines the whole purpose of having an extra character in your party.

I wanted to suggest a "Two Strikes and You are Out" system where you can lose a fight with one of the characters in your party and continue to explore the dungeon with the OTHER character as long as you don't lose a fight with him.

that would not only make it easier to go through the later dungeons but also encourage players to level up the reserve character and learn how to use them so that they aren't caught off guard when their "main" loses a fight.

That's actually a very good point. Probably should have handled player death like this. My next game will allow you to simply carry your whole party into a dungeon, so the reserve mechanic kinda gets removed. Instead there will be an item which allows you to retry fights, instead of getting a Game Over.

nice, can't wait to see what kind of game it is.

It's a sequel to Beatdown Dungeon. I felt there is a lot to improve, plus I want to add more characters. If you're interested, you can check out my Twitter profile, since I document the development process there: https://twitter.com/beatdowndungeon

Downloaded it yesterday. Just beaten Noob Dungeon. Solid concept,

very excited to see more of it :)

Cool, hope you have a good time!

For the curious: I uploaded Beatdown Dungeon's soundtrack on YouTube:

I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but I certainly had fun making it.

Masterpiece! Queen is my favorite character uwu

Also i want to listen soundtracks. Can you upload soundtracks to youtube?

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the game. Queen had a pretty lengthy design process, since I wanted a comedic villain that can also be threatening when she has to. A couple of people have asked me for the soundtrack, I might upload it to YouTube soon.

I enjoyed the game, the story and controls are enjoyable to me.

(+1)

Great to hear that, It's always cool to see people create videos of the game. Pro-tip: if you press S (or down) you can crouch, which changes your moves. Kinda like in Smash Bros. Don't think I saw you try it in the video ;)

You seem like a fun youtuber, You've got yourself a new subscriber.

i was trying to play this game with a friend via Parsec, but my Xbox controller keep going right for some reason, and that makes the game a little annoying to play.

Hi, I recommend plugging in controllers before starting the game. But there seems to be a glitch with xbox pads, thanks for reporting it!

(-2)

yes please.

"guis my bday is on april guis lel pls gib me attention guis"

(-2)

wow, you are extraordinarily creepy and sad at the same time. Not sure how to feel aside of that with you hunting me down on a totally different site to be a  lil troll and pathetic excuse for a human being.

lol you are still butthurt?

i just so happened to return to this page to leave a suggestion and was scrolling through the comments when i saw your name.

and anyways, how would i have known that you go on itch.io?

stop acting like you are some kind of victim, you are embarrassing yourself.

Camji's Combo Challenge:

Wanna see if you're really good at this game, try these, but first notation.

Basic Buttons:

  • D - Special Attack
  • X - Mana Move
  • Y - Assist

Special Actions:

  • 7/8/9 - Press the direction to jump.
  • j.(X) - You will have to perform X in the air
    • j.(5A - 5B) - You will have to perform the "5A - 5B" in the air
    • Special note: The closing bracket ")" signifies that you land, so once you see this j.(5A - 5B) - 9 - j.(5A - 5B), That means you have to jump twiceC

OH MY GOD, 53 HIT COMBO!!! I doubt even I can compete with that xD Thank you so much for putting the time in, I rarely see high level play in my game, so these videos are really useful for me.

I'd just like to see more an emphasis on training mode to help make finding optimal routes possible, here are some features I want:

CPU Manipulation

Where you can control whether the CPU is Jumping, Standing or Crouching, and Attacking, Idle, or Blocking because I can't test any block strings right now

Meter Manipulation

Where simply control how much of your resources you have including Alisa's powers

Also configurable controls for keyboard would be nice

You're absolutely right! Not gonna lie, I made the training mode really early in development and never  got around to improving it. I can't promise a full feature set like most modern FGs, but the basics like dummy settings shouldn't be an an issue. Thanks for all the feedback, even months after the game's release!

Back, For some new combos with characters that I'm surprised I like and an updated notation.

  • 'A' - Light
  • 'B' - Medium
  • 'C' - Heavy
  • 'D' - Special
  • 'X' - Super
  • 'Y' - Assist
  • 'jc' - Jump Cancel
  • 'J.(' - in air
  • ')' - Land
  • Label: Character(Badge, Support)

Shirley(Anything, Gigli):

5A - jc J.(5C - 5Y) - 5B - 5C - 6D - 2C - 5D

Notes: Summons all three ghosts in one combo. The hard timings in this combo are the "5A - jc j.5C" and the "6D - 2C" Links but this combo in general is hard but not impossible

Satoshi(Anything,Anything):

5A - 5B - 5C[2] - 6A - 5D - jc.(5A - 5D) - ...

Notes: Combo into his launcher, pretty basic and seems like Phil intended for this combo, so it's nothing really special.

Marv(Pain Chain, Gigli):

5A - 5B - 2C - 5Y - 2B - j.5D - 5X - 5X - 2B - j.(5C - 5D)

Notes: Combos from his Regular String in to his Grab with the help of Gigli. The "2C - 5Y" Link is actually pretty challenging so it will take practice to do this combo.

My single pet peeve is the time I had to wait to get my support back

It's amazing how in-depth you go with the  combat system, I feel honored :D Cool to see you summoning all 3 ghosts in Shirley's combo, I don't think anyone had figured this out. In general, not many people seem to use assists properly, maybe I need to make them more prominent in tutorials etc. And you're right , I should include a function to restore the assist meter in training.

I always forget what I download to record so I was pleasantly surprised by this little masterpiece great game I love the concept just in general really

Though I will agree that there's some stuff that can be improved in the game as a dungeon crawler(including actually giving my custom demon a victory speech for each win hahahaha), the game itself is amazing already. The characters are dynamic(though you really should add a bit of story to 'em,I was especially wondering what was up with Satoshi and Alisa), the art style is quite unique(especially the expressions of Queen when she gets hit or hits), the moves are smooth even when using keys or controllers, and the music - oh, the sweet sweet music, is friggin' banging(I especially loved Sally's theme, I'd get giddy everytime I heard it). All in all, it's a pretty great game, but can still be improved. Good job, my dude!

Also, Shirley ftw, my favorite character!

Glad to hear you enjoyed it, thanks! The Custom Demon turned out to be a popular feature, I will consider giving them more (selectable) personalities next time. They actually came about because I had already done all the sprites and moves for enemy demons and figured, I might as well make them playable. Most of the story kinda got cut during production and it’s something I wanna put more focus on. The Alisa/Satoshi bit is a reference to an old game of mine, where Alisa was the main character and Satoshi the antagonist. I’m quite surprised there are people enjoying the soundtrack (by no means universally though xD), since I have very little experience composing and used this project as a learning exercise, so thanks! And I agree, Shirley is best.

I'm interested in what happened before Queen stepped in, would there be any way to find this stuff out in-game anytime?

Do you mean story-wise?  At one point I was going to include character backstories but cut the feature to save time.  I still have some of the rough drafts, so I might include more info on the game's world next time. Here's a bit of trivia: Nitro and Satoshi were roommates at one point, which is why they're the starting characters. Satoshi got his fire powers from Queen but had to pay an absurd amount of money for it. Alisa is the daughter of a crime boss, but ran away from home and became a hero. When Queen was younger, she was called "Princess", since demonic royalty discard their names for their titles.

(+1)

One of my favorite things is to look into the backstory of the world and the characters, I'm glad that you actually had a backstory for these characters already planned, that's just a relic of how much thought you put in the game which I can tell now is a lot of time. Thanks again.

Another question, was Alisa designed for long and crazy combos

Yes, she most definitely was.  The whole gravity gimmick alongside moves with various angles was designed to give you a lot of freedom with your combo game. Her down super basically gives you free infinites for a short period of time. Alisa, Satoshi and Queen were designed for long, elaborate combos.

I finally got my thoughts together on how you could improve the dungeon crawling.

  • First, get rid of the exclamation mark. Dungeon crawlers depend on you not knowing what comes next in each room, increasing the thrill of the dungeon and the joy when you see a treasure room.
  • Second, make it possible to face multiple enemies in one room. That increases the challenge thus increasing the need for healing items, defines the setting better, and makes the bosses feel more special. If you do this, make sure to keep the enemy variety high.
  • Third, fill every room with something. I think empty rooms really disappoint and bore people, instead of being a sign of "I did something here" there just a sign of a barren place
  • Finally, make less treasure rooms, but give them more loot. I don't think I should be able to find a chest in every other room and have that chest give me a single item, chests are made to store multiple things

I can't really find a way to end this without sounding like a demanding prick, but please consider these points if you plan on refining the dungeon crawling.

Thank you very much for the suggestions! I absolutely agree with the empty rooms and treasure chests. I put in the !-mark  so players wouldn't get jump-scared by the battle intro, but I see how it reduces the tension. I probably won't include multiple enemies at the same time, since that would  basically require a whole different combat system . My current plan is to design actual non-random dungeons next time and maybe keep the random ones as optional sidequests. Improving the dungeons is very high on my priority list and I'm glad your criticisms overlap with my assessments, what needs to improve.

Thanks

I'd like to take the time to let you know how great this game is. As an avid fighting game fanatic, I love seeing indie fighting games be released, and this one is by far my favorite! I enjoyed the style and personality Beatdown Dungeon's characters and world has, the game was as humorous as it was fun.  Seems to me like Queen's Wrekkas as inspired by  Iori from KOF, and I really digged  that!

I had a good time playing through the game as Nitro and Alisa, and best believe I'll be testing out the other characters too! I'd like to thank you, Phil, for the inspiration you've given me with your game to better my own. I can't wait to see what you'll make next.

Also, in terms of gameplay, I found a few interesting things:

Nitro can do a loop of LMH forward H  repeatedly, until he reaches the corner and it becomes tougher to do.

Alisa has similar against the AI where you can do LMH forward H, and right as the combo ends, if you press down + L, it'll almost always be a counter hit on the AI, making it easy to cheese them , unless they happen to jump a lot.

Anyways, that'll conclude my comments for now. I hope you continue on with developing.

(+1)

Very kind of you, thanks! Yes, the move is taken straight from Iori, because he's the best! I was actually motivated by indie fighters myself, specifically Yatagarasu, since it came out at a point when I almost cancelled the project. Good luck for your own project! Thanks for reporting the bits on Nitro and Alisa, that stuff is always very useful.

Greetings,

I have just finished main dungeons in your game.
That was incredible!!!
I am in love with fighting games(especially Arc System Works) and this game is as fun to play as theirs.
I was sitting in my classroom in the university and searching for something to kill time here. Then this game has wildly appeared before my eyes. My first thought was: "Well it is just indie fighting..." But how I was wrong!!! It is the best indie game period for me. Everything is on point here: battles, controls, combos, antagonist. Just going to the Training mode and try out different combination of badges and supports is very fun.

I want to give my thanks to you and I will root for you on your next project.

P.S.

Can you describe how Ice power should work? Is it possible to freeze the opponent in the middle of the combo?

And I found bug when trying to do a Mana attack as Alisa in the end of the combo: sometimes it does not work... Camera zooms in but attack does not play.

Wow, I'm happy you had such a good time with the game! And yes, the ArcSys influence is quite strong xD You can freeze an enemy once during a combo, but you can't freeze them a second time. Would result in freeze-loops otherwise ;) Thanks for reporting the mana bug, I'll look into it!

It controls fine,

the music actually has some good beats

the option menu does need work but the characters are cute

I'm digging into Alisa right now … and HELL SHE'S FUN !!!

Below, a little corner carry loop :

L-M-H > (fwd) jump > a.M - a.M > (land) L-M-H ...

Once in the corner, there is too much pushback on the air.M, so it won't make an infinite loop.

As I'm writing this, I realize I didn't try this in the corner :  air. Med - air. Heavy > (land) L - M - H  …  [edit : tested and it doesn't work --> no problem]

The video :

(1 edit)

st.H has many advantage frames (on hit) and opens up for variety in combos and that's cool. But actually, it needs at least to keep its pushback even in the corner, or else we'll keep this infinite loop :

Also, below, another one with  st.L>cr.L

I believe that the small slide on the st.L fills the pushback gap.

(2 edits) (+1)

Here, a small display bug that doesn't brake the game. It just makes the image flicker a bit, but gameplay-wise, it doesn't bother too much (it even gives free corner carry).

It happens if you dash forward right after her air-special (you still need to be airborne).

I've been maining her for awhile, I'm glad to see someone agrees with me.

(+1)

Infinite abuse for me now

Yay, new infinite to abuse, lel

(+1)

I love how beating the noob dungeon unlocks the custom demon now in V1.0 ! Only then I've been able to test how you managed to get rid of the cr.medium infinite ! :)  Good job overall !! Still very fun to play !

I think Satoshi needs somewhat of a buff, he takes too much damage and he's not that fun to play

Sure, he could use some adjustments ;)

Phil, could you please have a glance at Satoshi's fwd+Special attack pushback in the corner ? Actually, one can link it into st.Light or cr.Light, and then it allows a loop (L-M-H- fwd+Sp > L-M-H … ). Theorically it is an infinite, but it's quite tough to pull out consistently. Just a slice of corner pushback could seal the deal IMO.

Also I really like how Satoshi has many options when in the reach of his standing Special : nice reach on his slide cr.Med, instant airdash Heavy gives a quick overhead, and his 3 specials cover many opponents options.  Also I love that his standing Special can be canceled into a jump as soon as it hits the opponent.

What I feel he could need is a consistent crossup attack. Maybe his jump Heavy could reach some pixels further behind his center axis ?

Out of that, I enjoy playing with him, a solid neutral character IMO ! I just feel that his outfit could let you think he has a fancy fighting style. But actually, he excels in midscreen and neutral.

Huh, I thought I patched that out, but I guess it still works in the corner. Thanks for discovering the infinite! Satoshi was designed to be a mid-range beast with long, elaborate combos, but weak individual hits. I'm glad to hear this seems to be working out for you. I will most likely adjust his jump heavy in general.

There's a complex infinite that can be done with Alisa w/Uppercut. Here's how I do it in the most basic form I can put to words

  • Launch an opponent to the air with her special
  • Combo them in the air with "Light, Medium, Heavy, Summon"
  • While the summon suspends them in air, combo them in air with "Light, Medium, Light, Medium" while you land
  • Her special meter resets when you hit the ground, allowing you to launch them again with her special
  • While they are in the air this time, you only combo them in the air with "Light, Medium, Light, Medium" while you land
  • Repeat

This combo is insane but unfortunately, it's an infinite so something has to happen.

You're right, Alisa's first gravity icon recovers a bit too quickly. Thanks for pointing this out!

Glad to help

I have a bit of a problem with the dungeon crawling in that there are empty rooms, I think there should be less rooms but more things in those rooms, therefore it will be short but fulfilling rather than having to search for those interesting things among a sea of emptiness.

Fun fact: the dungeon floors actually used to be larger, but I already reduced their size. I get what you mean, though. For now, I added a run button  to make exploration faster.

What's the run button? Do you mean the run badge?

The run button will be in the final version (it's not in the beta). Press k or whatever button you set to Back (in menus) to run. Can also be combined with the speed-up badge .

(2 edits)

One more big Alisa w/ Uppercut combo that i think will probably be patched out, I'll write it in two notations

A - Light Attack

B - Medium Attack

C - Heavy Attack

X - Special Attack

Y - Mana Attack

Z - Summon

| - delay

"A, 2A, 2A, B, C, 6A, X| 9, a.(A, B, C, Z), 66, A, B, C, 6A, X| 9, a.(A, B, A, B), A, B, C, Z, Y"

Regular Challenge Mode Notation

  • Light Attack
  • Crouching Light Attack
  • Crouching Light Attack
  • Medium Attack
  • Heavy Attack
  • Forward Light Attack
  • Neutral Special Attack
  • Forward Jump
  • Air Light Attack
  • Air Medium Attack
  • Air Heavy Attack
  • Summon
  • Land Cancel
  • Dash
  • Light Attack
  • Medium Attack
  • Heavy Attack
  • Forward Light Attack
  • Neutral Special Attack
  • Forward Jump
  • Air Light Attack
  • Air Medium Attack
  • Air Light Attack
  • Air Medium Attack
  • Land Cancel
  • Light Attack
  • Medium Attack
  • Heavy Attack
  • Summon
  • Mana Move

This combo has an astounding 34 - 36 hits and does 357 - 359 dmg with no damage modifiers

(+1)

I actively encourage play like this, so don't worry about it being patched out. If you're good enough at the game to pull off a combo like this, you deserve it. The only thing I patch are boring infinites (like normals linking into themselves), which make them game less fun.

I beat the queen with both enemy modifiers!!

Geez, that's awesome! I was worried the final boss might be too difficult, but apparently it's still doable under these circumstances xD

(1 edit)

I think she's at a nice difficulty to truly test the skills of a player, but I really exploited the fact that the AI doesn't block when they get up.

One more thing, could you not remove the Light Attack into Crouching Light Attack Chain, those were one of my favorite chains.

Don't worry, those are still in the game ;) I removed the infinites on them, but tha'ts about it. In general, I fixed one or two infinites and gave Satoshi a new combo, but otherwise your tech should still work.

(+1)

THANKS!

I sure hope my combos remain

Had some blast trying out the game.

I must admit that I've spent more time playing with a custom demon. I'll definitely give all other chars a try too.

The game did never crash or even slow down (i'm playin on a 8 year old laptop with a geforce 525M) , and that is really appreciable for a beta game ! 10/10 for stability !

Characters look cool and ARE UNIQUE ! A blast!  Jokes here and there keep the fun atmosphere without getting too bold or smthg. Many things going unnoticed meaning they all run as intended  ;)

The only really small things i've run into are about specific stuff in the controls.

1. Sometimes, it seems like if the engine keeps some "ghost" inputs in the buffer. It happens sometimes when there are many quick inputs (attack + some directions or like for instant airdash etc). When the move is finished (and I'm not holding any button anymore) the character is stuck in walking/crouching. As soon as I press a direction button, everything goes back to normal. Does not happen very often.

2. "Forward attack" stuff (fwd+light attack input)

Looking for an opening with the light attack in a footsie situation can lead into having the "forward attack" coming out instead. And the latter is much slower.

Also, during an air combo, as my character lands, I want to make a lil step forward then Light attack (and continue the combo) , or even instant forward jump + light attack to continue with an air juggle combo. But 8/10 times the "forward attack" comes out, as if it had priority over the other inputs.

As the autocombo comes out also with the Light attack button (when mashed), that makes a lot of controls on that light attack button. Could it be possible to change the "forward attack" input ? Like with [fwd]+heavy ?  It could still make sense gameplay-wise IMO.

And as I said above, outside of those specific subjects, there are so many things that go unnoticed, meaning they're OK, and that's HUGE !

Like, there are some tiny differences in assist cooldown timing which completely make sense when looking at their respective strengths and usefullness. ex.: the Jelly guy and the rockstar dragon. I'm still not convinced which assist I prefer. Both give combo extension, let you setup mixup situations etc., with some tiny differences in timings-cooldown-etc. And that shows there was a lot of work behind the curtains ! BRAVO !

Music is cool, different soundtracks depending on the dungeons. All of it is cohesive. Sounds effects are ok even they're not AAA. All of the sound stuff runs smoothly for me.

Well that will be enough.  Keep it up !!!

(+2)

Thanks for the feedback! The game was actually developed on a 6 year old laptop, to make sure it runs well on low-end machines xD

The game has a pretty lenient input buffer, but not for directional inputs. You shouldn’t get stuck in walking/crouching, that sounds like a bug. Thanks a lot for pointing this out, I’ll try to fix it!

I will take a closer look at the forward attack, thanks for the notice! I probably won’t change the input this close to the game’s release (could result in a bunch of glitches/infinites) but might change the input priority. Have you tried using crouching light attacks instead? They usually have the same range, but don’t trigger the auto combo.

Glad you’re enjoying the customization features! The idea behind assists, badges and the Custom Demon was to give you flexibility in how you fight, since the game is half-RPG.

Thanks again for playing and the detailed feedback!

Happy to contribute ! I'm really enjoying the game and all the possible combinations.

For the fwd attack stuff, I'm trying to delay my inputs a bit, and it works better. But still there's definitely something with directions stuck in the buffer on the custom demon female character (that's the one I've been testing stuff with).

Anyway, here is a small video with a possible combo with the cust. demon girl.

  • Style : Agressor
  • Duck special : Launch blast
  • Air special : Air fireball (works also with air slash)
  • Helper  (or assist) : Boss Wyrm (the rockstar dragon that fires 3 fireballs)

What I wanted to illustrate :

  • Crossup / not-crossup situation for the opening
  • Cr. medium long hit advantage that lets you combo for long enough, so the helper meter fills up for another use
  • Dash fwd between 2 cr. medium is a valid link in the combo
  • No meter use

I love those cr. medium links, still you can easily do an infinite with them as they are now. But I insist on the fact that they allow something interesting. Maybe the pushback on the cr.med could depend on the cust. demon playstyle (walk speed), so you can link only 2 cr. mediums or 3, depending on the playstyle... Like the TANK playstyle can link a bunch of cr.mediums (7 or 8), but not an inifinite.

I'm confident that you'll find the solution for this one too.

Regards from France !

Always makes me happy seeing players discover combos like this. Thanks for the video feedback! I will definitely adjust the cr. Medium, it’s a bit busted xD I will also take another look at the input buffer.

I love the new update! I've only experienced one or two problems thus far.

1) Desperate need for some kind of run button in the dungeons I think. Just to get through the empty spaces better/get around quicker.

2) Speed up in-between dialogue! The text crawl is too slow. Or just resume the text crawl after a battle is finished.

3) Bug? On Level 7 of the noob dungeon the game got crazy fast. It was cool but it played so quickly!

Thanks a lot for trying out the beta! Those are some great suggestions, I'll look into them. Can you remember what triggered the speed-up on level 7? Or did it just randomly happen? Thanks!

It just seemed to randomly happen I'm afraid! I got into a battle, and suddenly I was playing an anime fighter :P

That said it was kinda fun for the 10 seconds I lasted. Maybe look into a speed modifier.

Who knows, maybe I'll turn that into a feature at some point in the future xD

I'll just post'em here in numpad notation

A = Light Attack

B = Medium Attack

C = Heavy Attack

X = Special Attack

Y = Mana Move

Z = Summon

| = Delay

Nitro's Combo (w/ Demon Summon):

"A, 2A x3, B, C, Z, A, 2A x2, B, C, 2D, M"

Aliza Combo (w/ Uppercut Summon):

"A, 2A x2, B, C, 6A, X| 9, a.(A, B, C, Z), A, B, C, 6A, 6X, Y"

"A, 2A x2, B, C, 6A, X, 2Y| 9, a.(A, B, C, X, Z), A, B, C, [as many times as possible] x(6A, 6X), Z"

"7, a.(B, C, X)| 9, a.(A, B, C, Z), A, B, C, 6A, 6X, Y"

That's awesome, thanks for experimenting with the combo system! I am working hard to release a new demo soon, which  (besides more content) also makes the combo system a bit more freeform. In the old version you had to go A > B > C for a chain, now you can also go A > C for example.

This game has tons of potential and I already found extremely damaging combos for Alisa and Nitro, I just need a place to post'em

Hi, just tested out stuff in training mode and the game feels good just that Satoshi needs a balance patch, his jumping heavy which goes downwards, has way too much hitstun to where you can constantly do jump forward heavy at midscreen even for an easy infinite. I think his light, medium, heavy, forward special (repeat from light) is a corner infinite but then again I can only do it for 5 reps at most.
-Custom Demon and some other characters have animation bugs where characters are locked into an animation, the most obvious is holding crouch while you do crouching medium, if forward or back is held after the move ends, you will stay stuck in the last frame of the move until you let go, sliding along the ground and able to do some moves without a hitbox appearing. A similar glitch occurs also when you use an air attack and then cancel into a special on the ground instantly, doing the move but still in the air move animation.
-Custom demon ice ball and launcher special create an easy infinite, lauch opponent, do ice ball to catch them in air, then repeat forever, this one is even easier than the Satoshi infinite
Really love what you're doing and will continue to report bugs and inifinites as I see them

Thank you very much for the valuable feedback! I've replied to you on Twitter (you're Kusoge Kris, right?)

Looks cool guys. Will try it once I switch to my PC.

Thanks a lot! Every bit of feedback is valuable, so feel free to offer criticism :)

This game has alot going for it. The demo seems a bit rough round the edges but I can see a cool game in the making.

The animation was probably one of my favorite things, each character having alot of well... character.

Thanks a lot for covering the game! Seriously, this is the first video anyone has done on Beatdown Dungeon (well, besides myself). Great to see you enjoying the game. And you're right, there are definitely a few things that need improving. Didn't expect the dungeon backgrounds to be an issue though, I'll make sure to fix that. And yes, there will be more characters. Two more are almost done, but didn't make the cut for the demo.

You're very welcome, I hope you found the data useful.

To be specific with the background issue, what was distracting was when it kept moving even though the forground wasn't. It's something you get used to after awhile but its very jarring at first, so I'm guessing that's why you might not have thought of it.

When you make a game and test it alot you kinda build immunities to things.
